Common questions from first-time clients

As a physiotherapist, I’ve had the privilege of working with so many incredible women, each on their unique health journey. Some were returning after surgery, some were preparing for motherhood, and others simply wanted to move with more confidence and less pain. What they all had in common was this: strength, self-awareness, and a desire for something more tailored than a regular gym class.

If you’re considering Clinical Pilates in Burswood, it's normal to have questions, and you’re not alone. Many of the women I’ve worked with felt the same way at first. That’s why I’ve gathered some of the most common questions I hear, to help ease your mind and support you in taking the first step.

1. Do I need to be fit or flexible to start Clinical Pilates?

Not at all. We work with women of all ages, body types, and fitness levels. Our programs are designed to meet you exactly where you are, with no flexibility or gym experience needed.

2. Is it okay if I’ve never used a reformer machine before?

Yes, absolutely. Many of our clients are completely new to Pilates. Your physio will show you how everything works and support you throughout each movement.

3. What should I wear and bring to my first session?

Wear comfy clothes that let you move freely, like leggings and a tee. Grip socks are ideal but not essential for your first session. Just bring a water bottle and an open mind!

4. Will I be exercising alone or in a group?

We offer one-to-one and semi-private sessions. In both cases, you'll get close supervision and hands-on guidance from your physio.

5. Is someone there to guide me during each session?

Yes! You’ll be working directly with a physiotherapist the entire time. They’ll correct your form, adjust your plan as needed, and make sure you’re progressing safely.

6. Will this be tailored to my specific condition or fitness level?

Absolutely. That’s what makes Clinical Pilates at Burswood Health different from standard classes, your exercises are fully personalised by a physiotherapist.

7. Is Clinical Pilates safe if I’ve had surgery, back pain, or joint issues?

Yes. In fact, many clients come to us for exactly that reason. We work with people recovering from C-sections, joint replacements, prolapse, disc injuries, and more.

8. What if I feel pain or discomfort during a session?

You’ll never be pushed through pain. Your physio will adjust or stop an exercise immediately if it doesn’t feel right. We focus on listening to your body.

9. Do I get assessed before starting the program?

Yes. Your journey begins with a one-on-one physiotherapy assessment, ensuring your program is safe, tailored, and aligned with your health goals. Book your complimentary 15-minute health assessment to get started with confidence.

10. How long is each session?

Private sessions run for 40 minutes and classes for 60 minutes.

11. How many sessions should I do per week?

We typically recommend 1–2 sessions per week, but this varies depending on your goals, schedule and current exercise regime.

12. How long before I see results?

Many clients report noticeable improvements in posture, strength, and pain relief within 6-12 weeks, especially with consistent sessions.

13. Do I need a referral to start Clinical Pilates?

No referral is needed. You can book directly with us. Call our friendly team at Burswood Clinic at +61 8 9361 2628

14. Can I claim these sessions with my private health insurance?

Yes! If you have extras cover, we offer HICAPS for on-the-spot claiming at all our clinics.

15. What’s the cost per session? Are there packages?

The initial 1:1 consult costs $122.50. From there, you can either continue through private consultations or join our semi-private classes. Our classes cost $69.00 per session, with the ability to purchase packages at a discounted price.

16. How is Clinical Pilates different from regular Pilates or gym workouts?

Our Pilates is led by physios, not fitness instructors. That means your program is rehab-informed, medically guided, and constantly adjusted based on your body’s feedback.

17. Can this help with posture, pain, or stress levels?

Yes, Clinical Pilates is known for improving posture, core strength, pain management, flexibility, and even mental well-being.

18. Is this just for injury rehab, or can I use it to stay fit?

It’s great for both. We help women recover from injuries and also support those who want a safe, effective way to stay strong and active.
